Where It Started
Portland's Premier Dueling Piano Bar
Barrel Room PDX was born in 2023 when two friends — Jimmy and Jon — decided Portland needed something it didn't have: a proper dueling piano bar where anybody could walk in on a Saturday night and feel like they belonged.
Jimmy came to Portland by way of Los Angeles, where he spent years working the music and hospitality scenes. Jon had deep roots in the Portland community and knew the city was ready for something loud, joyful, and unapologetically fun. Together they found a historic space in Old Town, rolled up their sleeves, and got to work.
From the beginning, the vision was simple: fly in world-class pianists, let the audience control the setlist, and create a room where strangers become friends by the second chorus. No two shows are the same. Every night has its own energy, its own moments, its own songs.
What started as a passion project has grown into one of Portland's most beloved live entertainment venues. We've hosted birthday parties, bachelorette blowouts, corporate events, first dates, and everything in between. The community has shown up for us — and we show up for them, every single week.
We're still independent. Still owner-operated. Still figuring it out one show at a time. And we wouldn't have it any other way. Come find your people. The piano bench is always warm.
