Start the new year off with a showcase of amazing Portland poets! Happening on January 4th, 2026, at the Barrel Room in downtown.

What better way to kick off 2026 than by coming out for some amazing poetry!

Join us on Sunday, January 4th, for a curated poetry showcase. This event is being put on by local poetry mics, Slamlandia & The People's Poets, with all proceeds going towards the 2026 Bigfoot Poetry Festival and the People's Poets' Black History Month showcase.

Hosted by Brianna Renae and Julia Gaskill, with music from DJ Afreakano, this poetry reading starts at 5:00 PM at the Barrel Room (120 NW Couch St). Doors are at 4:30 PM. The entrance to the Barrel Room is through the gate on Couch St.

We'll hear poetry from: Alone Featuring Company, Jordy Bird, Jared Cetz, Christopher Diaz, Fatou, Loerit, Stephen Meads, and Hazel Rose.

The Barrel Room will have food and drinks for purchase - plus signature cocktails and mocktails made especially for this event! This show is 21+.

Tickets are $15 in advance. Any remaining tickets will be sold for $20 at the door. Limited seating available.

The entrance to the venue and the bathrooms are ADA accessible - all on the ground floor with no stairs. Any seating can be adjusted to make room for any accessibility equipment.
