Portland’s own samba ensemble, Bloco Alegria, brings the irresistible spirit of Brazilian carnival straight to the Rose City! Modeled after Brazil’s famous samba schools, they unite diverse drummers, dancers, and musicians to create an explosion of rhythm and joy.

Their high-energy shows blend Rio-style percussion, Brazilian song favorites, and colorful dance, transporting you to the streets of Rio de Janeiro and Bahia. Since their founding in 2011, Bloco Alegria has kept the samba flame alive in Portland, collaborating with artists like Pink Martini, Portugal. The Man, and even the Portland Columbia Symphony Orchestra.
